Through our mission, we empower people in need through mobilizing and developing community resources to create opportunities for success in Big Horn, Carbon, Stillwater, Sweet Grass, and Yellowstone counties.

There are an estimated 45,000 Montana families lacking secure employment and facing a housing cost burden. Many community members are spending over 30% of their income for a roof over their head. The 2023 Point in Time Count found that there are over 2,000 unhoused Montanans with limited options for stable housing.

At HRDC, we envision a world where families and individuals don’t have to chose between heating their homes or buying groceries. Where jobs pay a livable wage and homes are affordable. Where all community members are provided equal opportunity, free from economic barriers, to achieve their full human potential.

Our programming and supportive services encourage self-sufficiency and community collaboration for the betterment of Montana’s most disadvantaged. We do this through our promise of community action. We believe community action changes people’s lives, embodies the spirit of hope, improves communities and makes Montana a better place to live.

Together, with our committed partners, generous funders, dedicated staff and community leaders, we can restore HOPE, by extending RESPECT, encouraging individuals to DREAM of a better future, and ultimately CHANGE the economic landscape of our communities.
